Our Story

How We Met

Jordan and Dale met on a dating app, like many couples today. What stood out to both of them was that they genuinely enjoyed long conversations and getting to know each other. On their first date at a coffee shop, Dale asked Jordan plenty of questions about her engineering work — and she didn't run away. When the shop closed, they kept talking and walked around East Sacramento for another hour, even though it had rained all day and the sidewalks were still wet, and this was a good sign for Jordan.

One of the best moments early on was when they both got to delete the dating apps and escape the hell that is online dating. It's the worst, but how else are two introverts supposed to meet without mutual friends? As they grew more comfortable, Dale's puns and goofy sense of humor started to come out — which happened to be Jordan's weakness.

Our Favorite Adventure Together

Jordan and Dale share a love for hiking, camping, and road trips. One of their favorite adventures was a three-week drive across four states, visiting nine national parks — including all five in Utah. They hiked trails like Angel's Landing in Zion NP and spent time wandering through the rock formations at Arches NP.

Bryce Canyon stood out as their favorite park because of its variety of trails and unique formations. The trip wasn't just about hiking though. Some of their favorite memories came from the food they enjoyed along the way:

  • Sourdough pizza in Escalante, Utah
  • Pies from the historic Gifford Homestead in Capitol Reef NP
  • A giant cinnamon roll at Pufferbelly Station in Grand Junction, Colorado
  • Pierogi Village in Las Vegas

Engagement

Dale is more of the romantic between the two of them. Yosemite has always been a favorite place for Jordan and Dale, so Dale planned a backpacking trip there over July 4th weekend. On the second day, they hiked to Eagle Peak. From there they had a clear view of Half Dome, which they were fortunate to have to themselves. Dale set up his camera for "selfies," then surprised Jordan with a proposal.

Jordan was surprised that Dale didn't seem nervous at all — later he told her it was because he already knew the answer. He had also done plenty of prep work, including making the ring box - their friend Ron helped with the woodworking while Dale's mom made the interior. He had even taken up photography ahead of time so he could capture his own proposal photos. To top it off, he managed to hide the ring box in his pack along with some wine, so they'd have something to celebrate with that night.

It was a day they will never forget.

Why We Picked Silverthorn Meadows

Apple Hill has been a favorite place for Jordan and Dale. Dale went there growing up, and together they've participated in the Apple Hill 5k three times, visited the orchards and cideries, and even went blueberry picking there last summer. Choosing Silverthorn Meadows felt right because they wanted an outdoor wedding surrounded by trees in a beautiful setting.

The fact that it's also a Christmas tree farm makes it even more meaningful — a place they can picture returning to in future years, maybe even with kids, to pick out a tree together. Apple Hill is already a place they enjoy, and now it'll be even more special.
